Overview

Old World heritage meets modern charm in the Lincoln Square neighborhood on Chicago’s north side. The two greatest influences on Lincoln Square are the area’s German heritage and the 55-year-old Old Town School of Folk Music which, since moving to the neighborhood in 1998, has helped make the area a hotspot for pre- and post-concert dining and nightlife. But visitors don’t need an excuse to spend a day soaking up this ecelctic enclave’s charming vibe.

Despite its German roots, Lincoln Square is a much more diverse neighborhood these days, with a traditional German dining hall and a turn-of-the-century, European-style apothecary competing for attention with Thai restuarants and Mexican grocers. The Ravenswood Avenue corridor is a unique collection of industrial buildings and creative businesses. Behind the busy avenues lie quiet, tree-lined streets where close-knit residents gather for events year round in the area's parks, churches and public squares. Lincoln Square is home to a charming assortment of buildings, representing architectural styles from the Victorian era to the present day.Lincoln Square’s housing stock, a mix of single family homes and low-rise condominium and apartment buildings, offers options for young professionals, growing families, and empty-nesters alike. Public transportation is accessible via the CTA’s Brown Line trains, and several bus routes. Annual events like the Summer Concert Series, Chicago Folk & Roots music festival and the German-American Fest draw crowds of people from all over the Midwest and beyond to experience Lincoln Square. Lincoln Square is north of the Lake View condos.
